JAY MYREN NAMED DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION AT RCGA GOLF CENTRE IN CALGARY

Golf Canada announced today the appointment of Jay Myren as the Director of Instruction at the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) Golf Centre in Calgary. Myren, one of this region's most respected golf instructors, will lead an outstanding team of golf instructors as he takes on his new position effective immediately.

"I am ecstatic to have been offered the opportunity to lead this outstanding team and look forward to continuing to attract more players to the game as well as enhancing their enjoyment of the sport," said Myren.

Jay has been Head Teaching Professional at the RCGA Golf Centre since 2002 and a Canadian PGA member since 1990. In 2007, Myren was recognized by his peers as the Alberta PGA Teacher of the Year. He was also a runner up for 2010 Alberta PGA Teacher of the Year and has on several occasions been nominated as Junior Leader of the Year in the province of Alberta. Jay has recently attended the TPI Level 3 Course and World Golf Fitness Summit and is personally committed to education and professional development.

"He is one of the finest teachers in the Calgary area and I am confident he will continue to establish the RCGA Golf Centre as a premier learning and development centre in Western Canada," added RCGA Golf Centre Director of Golf Operations, Chad Rusnak.

The RCGA Golf Centre is open to the public and provides a variety of quality golf products, services and programs targeted to families and golfers of all age groups and skill levels. Beginners can enroll in one of our introductory programs, learning the basic swing fundamentals and an introduction to the golf course. Experienced golfers can participate in one of our golf leagues or sharpen their skills at Calgary's finest practice facility composed of a challenging yet player friendly 9 hole par 3 course, an 18 hole all natural grass putting course and a championship all year round outdoor driving range with a private teaching and short game area opposite the public range. World class CPGA teaching professionals, club fitters, and on site golf specific physical, mental and emotional performance coaching round out an all inclusive facility for the serious player looking to elevate his/her game.

The RCGA Golf Centre acts as Golf Canada’s Training Centre for Alberta. The facility provides free coaching and access to the best young players in the province in an effort to help them develop their games and compete against the best golfers in the world. The RCGA Golf Centre also offers all elements of the CN Future Links program providing affordable access to children. Golf Canada works in conjunction with the Alberta Golf Association on all youth development initiatives.
