Volunteers

Dear Volunteer,

Thank you for your interest in the 2008 CN Canadian Women's Open to be held at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club from August 11-17, 2008. The CN Canadian Women’s Open is always an event to remember. To make this a successful championship, CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association rely on the hard work and dedication volunteers.

Our team of volunteers consists of both avid golfers, fans of the game and individuals new to the sport. As past volunteers can attest, participating “inside the ropes” is a unique and rewarding experience. Last year over 1400 volunteers from around the world were in Edmonton to help make the 2007 CN Canadian Women’s Open a success. Their volunteer survey testimonials explain why many volunteers continue to join us year after year…

“I enjoyed the atmosphere at the CN Canadian Women’s Open. It was one of my favorite weeks this summer.”

“The players were very friendly and entertaining. When Lorena Ochoa gave me an autograph she said, ‘And thank you for volunteering.’ That’s very special for modern day athletes.”

“I got to interact with many of the golfers who were outstanding and a real credit to the world of golf. I find myself now watching more LPGA than PGA on TV.”

“The whole event was very organized, being there you get a new appreciation of how massive of an event like this is. I liked being able to select the shifts that best suited my days and times – it was easy for me to volunteer and still go to work.”

“I enjoyed meeting the players and being part of the success of the tournament. I was proud to be an Edmontonian and have the world share the beauty of our city. Also the volunteer dinner was excellent!!! Gretzky was a bonus at the pro am!”

“I especially appreciated the professional approach to the volunteer experience. I felt I was needed and useful. I met the players who appreciated the service I was providing. It was a fun time and I enjoyed meeting the other volunteers and hearing of their experiences.”

“The best part was meeting some great people and watching awesome golf. Being part of the CN Canadian Women’s Open was a thrill and the next time can't come soon enough.”
