Canada has been an important stop on the LPGA Tour since 1966. Operated under various auspices the event officially became the Canadian Women’s Open Championship in 2001 when the Royal Canadian Golf Association assumed management. Now, the CN Canadian Women’s Open is a marquee event on the LPGA Tour and is a key element of the Canadian golf scene.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open moves yearly to the best golf facilities in Canada. Wherever our national championship is hosted the goal is always to leave a legacy in the host region via a charitable initiative called the CN Miracle Match by donating proceeds from the event to a local children’s charity.

Our list of past champions reads as a ‘who’s who’ of golfing greats. In 1973, La Canadienne Golf Championship was held at the Club de golf municipal de Montréal in St. Lambert, Quebec.
Jocelyne Bourassa won the event and is the only Canadian to have ever won an LPGA event on her home soil. Jocelyne took home a purse of $10,000. Things have changed since then! In 2007 CN Canadian Women’s Open champion Lorena Ochoa received a first place cheque for $337,500(US).
