Player Council Roles and Responsibilities
Conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association and sponsored by CN, the
CN Canadian Women's Tour is the only women's developmental tour in Canada.
Open to professionals, top amateurs and elite junior golfers, the CN Canadian
Women's Tour offers top-notch tournament play, competitive purses and the
opportunity to earn exemptions into the CN Canadian Women's Open, Canada's
only LPGA Tour event.
The RCGA has high standards for the operation of its events, and the conduct of its players. We want to ensure that the Tour continues to grow and develop in a way that benefits all players, and reflects positively on our organization and our sponsors.
One of the RCGA’s key priorities is to ensure that CN Canadian Women’s Tour competitors are consulted on all areas of Tour operations, and that there is consistent, regular and open communication between the RCGA and the Tour players. To this end, a four member Player Council is established and is comprised of Tour players who were nominated by their peers. These Council members will communicate with the RCGA on a regular basis and will provide valuable input from the player perspective.
Specific roles include:
- Ambassador for the CN Canadian Women’s Tour
- Liaison between the RCGA and Tour players
- Spokesperson for the Tour when requested by the RCGA
Responsibilities / expectations include:
- Attending meetings as requested, whether in person or by conference call (typically 1-2 per year)
- Addressing player concerns and questions
- Forwarding player concerns and questions to the RCGA
- Providing input to the RCGA regarding Tour operations, format, schedule etc.
- Helping to guide the direction of the Tour as it continues to develop and grow
- Providing a written post-season report outlining Player Council activities and making suggestions for future improvement
