MORGAN PRESSEL SET TO PAY “MAJOR” VISIT AT 2007 CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN

- Newly-crowned Major champion heading to Royal Mayfair Golf Club in August -

Edmonton, Alta. (RCGA) – CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced today that LPGA Tour star Morgan Pressel has confirmed her intention to compete at the 2007 CN Canadian Women’s Open, August 13-19 at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alta.

Last Sunday, Pressel at 18 years old, became the youngest Major Champion in LPGA Tour history with a one-shot victory at the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Rancho Mirage, CA. Pressel’s landmark victory, her first on the LPGA Tour, eclipses the record previously held by Canadian Hall of Famer Sandra Post who on June 24, 1968 won the LPGA Championship at only 20 years old.

“We are delighted that Morgan will be returning to Canada to compete at the CN Canadian Women’s Open.” said Sean Van Kesteren Tournament Director, CN Canadian Women’s Open. “In a short time Morgan has established herself as one of the most recognizable and charismatic stars on the LPGA Tour. She is a premier talent and has also quickly developed mass appeal with the fans. Morgan will certainly be one of the stars with a shot at capturing this year’s title in Edmonton.”

The 2006 season marked Pressel’s rookie year on the LPGA Tour including an appearance at the 2006 CN Canadian Women’s Open (tied for 37th). Previous to last season the native of Tampa, FL enjoyed a stellar amateur career which was capped by winning the 2005 U.S. Women’s Amateur and finishing runner-up at the 2005 US Women’s Open.
