RCGA Strategic Plan (2010-2012)
Founded in 1895, the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) has governed the game of golf in Canada for over a century. Much has changed in the game, including the amalgamation with the Canadian Ladies’ Golf Association in 2005. With this significant merger came recognition of the RCGA by Sport Canada as the national sport organization (NSO) for golf in Canada. Charged with growing the game of golf in this country and helping to produce the next generation of Canadian golfers for international competition, the RCGA embarked on a consultative process to develop a strategic plan that would guide RCGA activities and focus into the future.
Canada has enjoyed one the highest participation rates in golf of any country with one in five Canadians playing the game. But as Canada changes, the RCGA recognizes the need for change to keep in step. This plan provides our organization and stakeholders with a clearly understood, disciplined, strategic approach to building an exciting and dynamic future for golf in Canada. It will be updated annually to consistently provide the RCGA with a three-year rolling plan for Shaping Golf’s Future.
The RCGA Will Shape The Future Of Golf In Canada By Focusing On:
- Fulfilling our responsibilities as golf’s national sport organization (NSO)
- Increasing membership levels of clubs and golfers
- Focusing on getting more children into the game
- Increasing the caliber of our excellence programs and coaching education
- Conducting best in class amateur and professional championships
- Continuing to be the authority for Rules of Golf & Amateur Status, Handicap & Course Rating, and the history of the game
