An American by birth, and a close friend of the legendary Bobby Jones, Alexa Fraser married an Ottawa doctor and moved to Canada in 1924. Already an accomplished amateur golfer south of the border, with wins at the 1916,1919 and 1920 U.S Women's Championships, Fraser also captured the Canadian Ladies' Amateur Championship in 1920 and 1934.
